Last Night

L

I watched the day crumble away; the sun softened and oozed a pink pillowy squiggle on the horizon – some signature of the sky.

I watched the day crumble away; clouds shrunk, flattened like cushions that carry the weight of multiple throw blankets and dog hair.

I watched the day crumble away; the sky pixelated. Dusk froze, the moon surfaced, slowly buffering and peeking through the trees: an eye with no sense of sight.

I watched the day crumble away, sprinkle its debris on my windshield.

I watched the day crumble away and wondered if it shied away for you too.
