I watched a bridge burn today. The fire spread, filled the sky like a sunset, and I didn’t mind the view. The foundation crumbled, dirtied the sea like a martini.

I watched a bridge burn today. The beams were synchronized swimmers. I was impressed with how long they could hold their breath.

I watched a bridge burn today. The smoke twisted into tiny tornados. The sun was a sizzling yolk against the gray sky.

I watched a bridge burn today. I was anticipating to find you on the other side with a matchbook in hand. I found you turned away from the space between you and me and there she was, with a gas can in hand, smiling at the debris.
