Why’s it have to be so Complicated?

W

CONSISTENCY IS KEY.

With that being said, I proposed that Avril Lavigne should present herself as everyone’s “Best Friend.”

She’s wiser than Taylor.

She’s more mature than Miley.

She can sing better than Britney (as much as I love Britney, she does not have the same pipes she did back in the early 2000’s).

As the “Best Friend” she is more understanding for teen girls who don’t want to twerk or whine about boys. She can serve as an actual role model (like she did back in the day). As for her past fan base (people like me), we will love her new approach to music.

As for her sound, like I stated before, she needs to pair up with a producer who is popular today.

For example:

If I turned on the radio and saw Calvin Harris featuring Avril Lavigne… that’d be fucking awesome.

It would sound mainstream, so it’ll attract everyone’s attention (even the younger generation who doesn’t know her) and as for the older generation we will all say, “HOLY SHIT! AVRIL?!” and turn that song up.

The thing about brands is that, they all have their time and place. Some brands adapt to change very easily (i.e. Britney Spears) and others tend to fall flat (i.e. Avril Lavigne). If you have a favorite artist and they suddenly change, it could be for better or worse. In this case, Avril has changed to the point where she has embarrassed herself when she only wanted to try something new.

Which is fine. I applaud change. Damn. I encourage it.

But when a brand changes, it needs to stick to its guns without pushing away the consumer.
